Ovi Negrean: Developing a customer-centric approach was crucial for SocialBee. We started to build our business by consistently booking calls with prospects to understand their needs and feedback.
These interactions provided us with the insights we needed to build our social media management tool and design our concierge services. We also got to learn about the challenges our customers faced with competing businesses, which helped us develop a strong USP.
This information helped us customize our offerings to better meet the needs of our customers and stand out in a crowded market.
Consequently, through referrals and word-of-mouth, we reached a wider audience and established a reputation for caring about our customers. This not only increased our business growth but also fostered stronger relationships with our customers, resulting in their loyalty and willingness to recommend us to others.
To this day we book calls with clients and use customer service not just as a way to help them but improve our products and services. A great part of all the changes and improvements we make are informed by our customers, and we continue to consider the feedback we get through various channels, social media mentions, reviews, emails, and one on one interactions.
Q2. How do you stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge and drive innovation in your business?
Ovi Negrean: Staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies stems from my passion for the field.
Since I enjoy learning and consuming content that is centered around social media, tech, marketing, and other business-related topics, I naturally keep up with the latest news. Besides this, I also network with other professionals, attend events, and conduct my own research constantly.
Plus, circling back to my previous answer, our customers are another source of inspiration since they are quick to inquire about the latest features available on the market. This motivates us to up our game and stay on top of trends.
It’s worth mentioning that, working in a rapidly changing industry has definitely shaped the way I and my team brainstorm ideas. We are constantly sharing news and resources with each other in an effort to keep us all in the loop with the latest industry changes. So, if I am not aware of something immediately, most likely someone from my team will be ahead of me.
Q3. Can you share a pivotal moment or decision in your entrepreneurial journey that significantly influenced your business’s trajectory?
Ovi Negrean: When we first started SocialBee, we faced a critical moment that made us rethink our business strategy.
Initially, our social media tool consisted of just three basic elements: Google Sheets, Zapier, and Buffer. During that time, we worked tirelessly to create SocialBee as an independent platform.
Since coding took longer than expected, we didn’t have the resources to develop our social media tool in time to generate the revenue we needed. It was a challenging time, but it ultimately led us to an opportunity to scale our business.
That’s when we decided to offer social media services on top of our platform. This allowed us to raise our prices while also providing more value to our customers. It was an unexpected development for us, but it provided the revenue we needed to grow and improve our product.
This decision completely influenced our business’s trajectory and it’s one of the reasons why SocialBee has become what it is today.
Q4. What strategies have you implemented to attract and retain a loyal customer base?
Ovi Negrean: We’ve put a lot of effort into building a loyal customer base over the years, and we will always continue to do so.
Most importantly, we strive to provide excellent customer support and go the extra mile to help them in their social media journey. We provide support through multiple channels—customers can book calls, email us or use the chat from our website to get in touch. In addition, we keep up with our social media mentions and reply to any messages, comments, and reviews we get online.
Besides this, we also provide educational resources such as demos, webinars, social media templates, and articles to help our customers make the most of their social media presence.
We also offer a free trial period to potential customers, allowing them to put our platform to the test before purchasing a paid plan. This helps familiarise potential customers with our product and encourages them to commit to a long-term subscription.
To keep our customers engaged, we provide regular updates and new features to our platform, showing that we are continuously improving our offerings to meet their standards.

Ovi Negrean: To manage risk, we conduct thorough market research before pursuing new ventures. Knowledge is power, so the more you know, the better you will understand the threats and opportunities that come with the territory.
Additionally, we also make sure to have backup plans for various scenarios, thus we can be prepared for unexpected changes in the market or competitive landscape.
Ultimately, managing risk and uncertainty is an ongoing challenge, but we are committed to taking a proactive and strategic approach, while also remaining true to our values and mission so we can navigate these challenges with confidence and grace.

Ovi Negrean: Expanding our team has been one of the most significant challenges we’ve encountered. Our aim was to find individuals who shared our passion for SocialBee and building a robust business. However, this was easier said than done.
We soon discovered that the process of locating the right candidates was just the beginning. We needed to develop ways to enhance their skills and provide exceptional services to our clients. We realised that our team’s growth was directly linked to our business’s growth.
To address this, we focused on constructing efficient structures and processes that streamlined our work and allowed us to train new employees faster. We also provided ongoing opportunities for learning and development, which significantly impacted our team’s productivity and work quality.
As a result, our employees’ knowledge and experience have led to new ideas and strategies that have taken our business to the next level.

Ovi Negrean: The most valuable piece of advice comes from one of my favorite quotes: “Teamwork makes the dream work.”
This mantra has greatly influenced my leadership style and inspired me to create a culture of collaboration, trust, and empowerment within my company.
I firmly believe that a company is only as good as its team. After all, as an entrepreneur, you can’t do it all by yourself. You have to let people take over to see how truly creative and innovative they can be.
